About
I started my career after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in sports science as a recreational director of adult sports. That was a fun job! I was just biding my time to apply to a graduate degree program to become a Physician Assistant though. Eventually I did get into a wonderful program only to quit after realizing that if I stayed in medicine, I’d die young!
I had done all the work in the career center at my undergraduate college to plan a career path for me. I’d even spent lots of volunteer time in hospitals and physical therapy clinics. So I had experienced the medical field to some extent but I didn’t understand it wasn’t a good fit for me until I was knee deep in college debt in grad school. Basically I was going 100 miles an hour in the wrong direction!
It was a few weeks in on my first rotation in PA school that it became very clear that I did not belong there and I quit. That was one of the best decisions of my life because it was at that point that I started designing a gratifying career for me with a better understanding of what I wanted.
